Schärenmeer 
In den inneren Schären liegt 20-40 cm dickes Fest- 
eis, in den äußeren Schären 15-30 cm dickes 
ebenes Eis, dann zusammengefrorenes Eis bis Utö. 
Bis zur Eisgrenze etwa auf der Linie Almagrundet — 
Suomen Leijona — 25 sm NW-lich von Ristna — 30 
sm W-lich von Ristna kommt dünnes ebenes Eis 
und Neueis vor. 
Älandsee 
Bedeckt mit teilweise übereinandergeschobenem 5- 
10 cm dicken Eis und Neueis. N-lich von Svenska 
Björn bis Söderarm und um Svartklubben kommt es 
zu Eispressungen. 
Bottensee 
Im zentralen Teil kommt noch offenes Wasser mit 
Neueisbildung vor, sonst vollständig eisbedeckt. 
Finnische Küste: In den Schären liegt 20-45 cm 
dickes Festeis, außerhalb davon kommt auf etwa 5- 
15 sm dünnes ebenes Eis, dann auf 5-20 sm sehr 
dichtes 10-20 cm dickes Eis vor. - Schwedische 
Küste: In den Schären liegt 20-40 cm dickes 
Festeis. Auf See N-lich der Breite 62%N sehr dichte s 
10-30 cm dickes Eis mit zahlreichen Rissen und 
kleineren Rinnen. Im S-Teil liegt zwischen 
Gävliebucht und Älandsee ein Gebiet mit sehr 
dichtem 15-35 cm dicken Eis, sonst dünnes ebenes 
Eis und Neueis. Ängermanälv ist mit bis zu 50 cm 
dickem Festeis bedeckt. 
Norra Kvarken 
Auf See meist sehr dichtes und übereinander- 
geschobenes 15-40 cm dickes Eis und dünnes 
sbenes Eis. 
Finnische Küste: Von Vaasa bis Norra Gloppsten 
25-45 cm dickes Festeis. Außerhalb davon bis etwa 
zur Breite von Kaskinen sehr dichtes 10-30 cm 
dickes Eis und Neueis. - Schwedische Küste: W- 
lich von Holmöarna 30-60 cm dickes Festeis, 
außerhalb davon kommt meist sehr dichtes 
zerbrochenes 20-40 cm dickes Eis vor. E-lich von 
Holmöarna verläuft eine mit dünnem ebenen Eis 
bedeckte Rinne, aber einige grobe Eisschollen 
können die Durchfahrt behindern. Im Bereich 
zwischen Väktaren und Holmögadd kommt Neueis 
Vor. 
Bottenvik 
Vollständig eisbedeckt. 
Finnische Küste: Die N-lichen Schären sind mit 30- 
60 cm, die S-lichen Schären mit 20-40 cm dickem 
Festeis bedeckt. Außerhalb des Festeises liegt im 
Norden bis zu der Linie Raahe - Nygrän zusammen- 
1ängendes, stark aufgepresstes 30-50 cm dickes 
Eis. Von Merikallat nach Nahkiainen ebenes Eis. 
Sonst kommt sehr dichtes, übereinandergeschobe- 
nes und teilweise aufgepresstes 15-40 cm dickes

Archipelago Sea 
ın the inner archipelagos there is 20-40 cm thick 
fast ice, in the outer skerries there is 15-30 cm 
thick level ice, then consolidated ice to Utö. Farther 
off thin level ice and new ice up to the ice edge at 
about the line Almagrundet — Suomen Leijona — 25 
nm northwest of Ristna - 30 nm west of Ristna 
oCccurs. 
Sea of Äland 
Covered by partly rafted 5-10 cm thick ice and new 
ice. There is ice pressure north of Svenska Björn to 
Söderarm and around Svartklubben. 
Sea of Bothnia 
Nearly totally ice covered, only in the central part 
open water with new ice formation. 
Finnish Coast: In the archipelagos there is 20-45 
cm thick fast ice, farther out an approximately 5-15 
nm wide belt of thin level ice, then for 5-20 nm very 
close 10-20 cm thick ice. - Swedish Coast: In the 
archipelagos there is 20-40 cm thick fast ice. At 
sea north of the latitude 62N there is very close 
10-30 cm thick ice with numerous cracks and minor 
‚gads. In the southern part there is very close 15-35 
cm thick ice between Bight of Gävle and Sea of 
Äland, else thin level ice and new ice occurs. The 
Ängermanälv is covered with up to 50 cm thick fast 
ice. 
Norra Kvarken 
At sea mostly very close and rafted 15-40 cm thick 
ice and thin level ice. 
Finnish Coast: From Vaasa to Norra Gloppsten

approximately up to the latitude of Kaskinen there 
is very close 10-30 cm thick ice and new ice. - 
Swedish Coast: West of Holmöarna 30-60 cm 
thick fast ice, farther out mostly very close, broken 
20-40 cm thick ice. A lead covered with thin level 
ice runs east of Holmöarna, however some heavy 
ice floes may obstruct the passage. In the area 
between Väktaren and Holmögadd new ice occurs. 
Bay of Bothnia 
Totally ice covered. 
Finnish Coast: The northern archipelagos are 
covered with 30-60 cm, the southern archipelagos 
with 20-40 cm thick fast ice. Off the fast ice there is 
consolidated, heavily ridged 30-50 cm thick ice 
north of the line Raahe — Nygrän. From Merikallat 
to Nahkiainen there is level ice. Else, very close, 
rafted and partly ridged 15-40 cm thick ice occurs. -
