The number of copies printed, of the. "Machrichten für Seefahrer" (German

In the "Nautischer Funkdienst" (N.F.) (German list of Radio Signals)

new rapporting system aims at a centrally controlled safety action in case
of distress at sea. The chapter: communication between aircraft and ships,
was extended, too. The R/T Service for coastwise shipping contains now also
information on Becca und Radar.

which save both time, and costs, the programme of renewal and extension
mentioned in the Annual Report of the preceding year, could not only be
kept in 1958 but even surpassed in part.
Por the Baltic area two new charts covering’ the south and west coasts
of Sweden appeared; in addition the coastal charts covering the north side
of the Finnish Gulf were issued with extensive corrections. The special
charts for the Belt Sea were renewed and some of them could be published
already. The complete revision of the special charts covering the German'
Bight was commenced in 1958, whereby some of the charts underwent also a.
change as regards their extension. In this case, too, some of the revised
charts could- be published already. By the issue of: new coastal charts for
the southern North Sea, this area reaching from Scheveningen-southward and
tor the west up to and including the English coast, could be completely
covered uniformly by overlapping charts at a scale of 1:150.000, The

with the issue of six hew Decca charts.
