the Documentation of Hydrographic Publications accumulated 5,000 titles 
of the respective literature; the radioactivity of sea water and sea 
floor was controlled; the Geomagnetic Observatory promulgated the geo 
magnetic indices; the G.H.I. in Hamburg and its agencies outside of Ham 
burg tested about 52,000 instruments and devices of the ship's equipment 
on land and about 2,600 such instruments on board.
