Wind Effect and Storm Surge Warning Service broadcasted 54 special warnings 
in addition to the morning and evening forecasts; the Time Service made a 
total of 2,130 star observations during 93 nights; the Ice Service answered 
169 telephone calls about the ice situation and produced 12'7 ice reports, 
45 general ice charts, and 5 written expertises. The documentation of hy 
drographic publications accumulated 5 > 1^-3 titles of this special field. 
The radioactivities of both sea water and ocean floor were controlled. 
The Wirigst Observatory disseminated the geomagnetic indices. The DHI in 
Hamburg and its branch establishments tested on land or on board, resp., 
50,105 and 2,33’l navigational instruments and divices of the ship's equip 
ment .
