Die Fahrt diente überwiegend der Klärung von Fragen, die in engem Zu- 
sammenhang mit der Versenkung radioaktiver und sonstiger Abfallstoffe 
stehen. Dazu wurde die horizontale und vertikale Verteilung verschiedener 
natürlicher und künstlicher Radionuklide bestimmt. Anhand von Luftpro- 
ben wurde die Verbreitung von anthropogenen und chlorierten Kohlen- 
wasserstoffen untersucht. Aus Messungen des Gehalts und der Isotopen- 
zusammensetzung von gelöstem Sauerstoff und Gesamtkarbonat wurde 
auf spezifische Isotopenfraktionierungen bei Photosynthese und Respiration 
im marinen Zyklus geschlossen. 
Messungen von bodennahen Vertikalprofilen der Edelgase Radon 222 und 
Krypton 85 dienten der Bestimmung der Vertikaldurchmischung der unter- 
sten 100 bis 150 m der Wassersäule. Darüber hinaus wurde der Einschub 
des Mittelmeerwassers im Bereich des Iberischen Beckens untersucht. 
The cruise served mainly to clarify questions that are in close connection 
with the dumping of radioactive and other wastes. For this purpose the 
horizontal and vertical distribution of various natural and artificial radio 
nuclides were determined. With the aid of air samples the distribution 
of anthropogenic and chlorinated hydrocarbons was studied. From mea- 
surements of the content and the composition of isotopes of dissolved 
oxygen and total carbonate, conclusions were drawn to specific fractio- 
nation of isotopes with photosynthesis and respiration in the marine 
cycle. Measurements of bottom-near vertical profiles of the noble 
gases radon 222 and krypton 85 served for the determination of the vertical 
mixing of the lowermost 100 to 150 metres of the water column. Further- 
more, the influx of mediterranean water in the area of the Iberian Basin 
was studied.
