horse-power steam-engine, to work a Syren, 
has been placed at Eaton’s Neck Light-house 
Station, on Long Island, at the east side of 
the entrance to Huntington Bay. During 
thick, foggy, and snowy weather, this fog 
signal will he sounded, giving blasts of nine 
seconds (9") duration, at intervals of fifteen 
(15") seconds.

sowie hei Schneetreiben ertönt dieselbe mit 
Intervallen von 15 Sek. 9 Sekunden

has been erected by the Government of Ca 
nada at Main-a-dieu, on the Westerly end of 
Scattari Island, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. 
Latitude 46° 0' 30" N. 
Longitude 59° 47' 30" W. 
A fixed Red Light is exhibited at an ele 
vation of ninety feet above high water, and 
can he seen at a distance of nine miles. 
The Tower is a square wooden building 
forty feet high, and painted white.
