MONITORING 
Most measures quoted under this heading are part of one 
of the Monitoring programmes carried out in the frame of 
legal obligations or agreements, such as: 
The DHI Monitoring Programme 
The Bund-Länder-Meßprogramm (BLMP) 
The ARGE Elbe Programme 
since 1980) 
since 1980) 
since 1978) and others 
The monitoring persuant to the 
- JMP (Joint Monitoring Programme of the conventions of OSLO and PARIS) 
- EEC Directives. 
Some monitoring activities overlap, so that the data obtained 
are used for more than one programme. 
The data and their interpretation are usually published.

DHI Monitoring Programme 
In co-operation with other foreign agencies,the DHI controls 
the observance of the international Conventions on the pro 
tection of the environment (JMG, EEC-Directives 76/464, 82/883) 
in the High Seas. 
As for the estuaries and coastal areas, the monitoring programme 
is harmonized with the Lander (see Bund-LSnder-MeBprogramm/BLMP).
