Other subprojects are also integrated into the DHI programme; 
and some investigations are carried out within the framework of re 
search projects which are to establish the basis for routine 
monitoring measures. 
For the programme, water and sediment samples are taken at 
25 sampling positions in the German Bight. The analysis of 
the seawater comprises: 
- oxygen, nutrients, salinity, temperature, pH-value 
- heavy metals 
- organohalogen compounds 
- petrol hydrocarbons 
- radioactivity 
The sediments and suspended matter are analyzed for 
- the monitoring of the sea bottom for the occurrence 
of environmentally relevant heavy metals 
- the monitoring of the acid-waste dumping area for 
particulate iron compounds (persuant to EEC Directive 82/883). 
Bund-Lander-MeBprogramm (BLMP) 
With the purpose of a general monitoring of the waters, 
all Federal Government and Lander specialist Authorities have 
carried out investigations, persuant to various agreements, 
in order to be able to judge the input of substances into the 
North Sea and its consequences. Since 1980 these investigations 
are undertaken within the framework of a harmonized "Bund- 
Lander-MeBprogramm" .
