Other subprojects are also integrated into the DHI programme;
and some investigations are carried out within the framework of re
search projects which are to establish the basis for routine
monitoring measures.
For the programme, water and sediment samples are taken at
25 sampling positions in the German Bight. The analysis of
the seawater comprises:
- oxygen, nutrients, salinity, temperature, pH-value
- heavy metals
- organohalogen compounds
- petrol hydrocarbons
- radioactivity
The sediments and suspended matter are analyzed for
- the monitoring of the sea bottom for the occurrence
of environmentally relevant heavy metals
- the monitoring of the acid-waste dumping area for
particulate iron compounds (persuant to EEC Directive 82/883).
