2005 werden die BSH-Schiffe in der Nordsee vor allem 
die ostfrleslschen Watten, die Elbmündung und Flä 
chen vor der nordfriesischen Küste neu vermessen; 
auf dem Arbeitsprogramm für die Ostsee stehen die 
Mecklenburger Bucht und Seegebiete ostwärts Rügen. 
Navigations- und Funkausrüstung 
Als eine der führenden Stellen für die Zulassung 
neuer Navigations- und Funkausrüstungen wird das 
BSH-Prüflabor seine Prüf- und Testverfahren auch 
2005 mit steigendem Umfang fortsetzen. Außerdem 
wird nach europäischen Vorgaben mit dem Aufbau 
einer behördlichen Marktaufsicht begonnen, um 
Produkte der Schiffsausrüstung künftig systematisch 
auf Übereinstimmung mit allgemeinen 
Sicherheitsanforderungen zu kontrollieren. 
Ballastwasser-Übereinkommen 
Zur Umsetzung des Ballastwasser-Übereinkommens, 
das 2004 verabschiedet wurde aber noch nicht in 
Kraft getreten Ist, werden In Deutschland unter 
Beteiligung des BSH die notwendigen technischen 
Standards und Prüfmethoden entwickelt. 
Das Übereinkommen regelt künftig den Umgang mit 
Ballastwasser von Schiffen. Dieses kann bislang 
unkontrolliert in Seegebieten ausgetauscht werden, 
wodurch u.a. die Gefahr besteht, fremde Arten und 
Organismen elnzuschleppen. 
Initiative BundOnline 
Im Rahmen der Initiative BundOnline wird das BSH 
Insgesamt fünf Dienstleistungen für die Schifffahrt zur 
Navigational and radiocommunication equipment 
The BSH’s testing laboratory, one of the leading 
bodies granting approvals for novel navigational and 
radiocommunication equipment, will continue ex 
panding the scope of Its testing activities In 2005. 
Besides, In compliance with EU regulations, an offi 
cial market supervisory system will be developed in 
order to check whether navigational equipment on 
the market Is In conformity with general safety re 
quirements. 
Ballast Water Convention 
With respect to the Implementation of the Ballast 
Water Convention, which was adopted in 2004 but 
has not yet entered Into force, the required technical 
standards and testing methods will be developed in 
Germany with participation of the BSH. The regula 
tions of the Convention apply to the future handling 
of ship's ballast water. Up to now, ballast water can 
be exchanged without any controls, which involves 
the risk of non-indigenous aquatic organisms being 
introduced. 
BundOnline initiative 
Within the framework of the BundOnline Initiative, the 
BSH contributes five different services to shipping 
which will be available online: Issue of Flag Certificates, 
temporary reflagging of seagoing vessels, tonnage 
measurement of recreational craft, type-testing and 
approval of navigational and radiocommunications 
equipment for shipboard use. This will Increase the 
transparency of the pro-cedure both for the BSH’s 
employees and its customers.
