aktualisiert werden

Neben den Papier 
seekarten produziert das 
BSH auch die Seekarten 
daten - die sogenannten 
ENCs für das elektro 
nische Seekarteninforma 
tionssystem ECDIS.

Up-to-date nautical

worldwide on board sea 
going ships. In Germany, 
the BSH Is the agency 
issuing the approx. 
450 official navigational 
charts covering German 
and European waters and 
about 50 Sailing Direc 
tions. The data needed to 
chart foreign waters are 
provided to the BSH 
directly by the other hydro- 
graphic offices. The BSH’s 
nautical charts and Sailing 
Directions are updated in 
Its weekly “Nachrlchten fur 
Seefahrer” (NfS, notices to 
mariners). 
Besides paper charts, 
the BSH also produces 
electronic navigational 
charts (ENCs) and regular 
updates for ECDIS, the 
Electronic Chart Display 
and Information System.
