Übersicht 
Das Eis in der Bottenvik nimmt rasch ab. 
Overview 
The ice in the Bay of Bothnia is decreasing rapidly. 
- Restrictions to navigation for the Finnish and 
Swedish harbours in the Bay of Bothnia have been 
cancelled on Monday, 24" May. 
Due to single drifting hard floebits, careful 
navigation is advised during the night time 
and in conditions of poor visibility. 
Schifffahrtsbeschränkungen für die finnischen und 
schwedischen Häfen in der Bottenvik wurden am 
Montag, den 24. Mai, aufgehoben. 
Das vorsichtige Navigieren ist wegen einzelner 
harter Eisblöcke vor allem in den Nachtstunden 
und bei schlechten Sichtverhältnissen 
erforderlich. 
Norra Kvarken 
Jberwiegend eisfrei, aber auf See treiben 
südwestlich von Holmögadd einzelne Eisblöcke.

Mostly ice-free, but at sea southwest of Holmögadd 
single floebits are drifting. 
Bay of Bothnia 
Finnish Coast: The archipelagos are ice-free. 
Dutside the archipelagos there is in the area 
Farstugrunden — Ulkokalla — Simpgrundet open to 
very open, 40-60 cm thick, rotten drift ice. 
Otherwise, open water occurs. - Swedish Coast: 
.n the central part there is at sea north of the 
latitude 64° N very open rotten ice with 20-50 cm 
*hick floebits in-between., else ice-free. 
Bottenvik 
Finnische Küste: Die Schären sind eisfrei. 
Außerhalb der Schären tritt im Bereich 
Farstugrunden — Ulkokalla — Simpgrundet lockeres 
bis sehr lockeres, 40-60 cm dickes, morsches 
Treibeis auf, sonst kommt offenes Wasser vor. - 
Schwedische Küste: Im zentralen Teil kommt auf 
See nördlich der Breite 64° N sehr lockeres 
nNorsches Eis mit 20-50 cm dicken Eisblöcken 
dazwischen vor, sonst eisfrei. 
Voraussichtliche Eisentwicklung 
In der Bottenvik wird das restliche Treibeis im 
zentralen Seegebiet durch meist mäßige Winde aus 
vorwiegend östlichen Richtungen westwärts treiben 
ind sich bis auf einige grobe Eisschollen und 
Eisblöcke bis zum Ende dieser Woche auflösen. 
Expected Ice Development 
Due to moderate winds from mostly easterly 
directions, remnants of ice in the Bay of Bothnia 
‚will drift mostly towards the west and melt except 
for some thick ice floes or floebits.
