kommt bis Nordvalen lockeres 10-20 cm dickes Eis 
ind S-lich davon bis zur Linie Högbonden — 
Storkallegrund offenes Wasser vor. N-lich von 
Nordvalen liegt sehr dichtes 20-50 cm dickes Eis. - 
Schwedische Küste: E-lich von Holmöarna liegt bis 
Nordvalen sehr dichtes 30-50 cm dickes Eis mit 
einigen Presseisrücken. Weiter S-lich treibt meist 
'ockeres Eis. 
Bottenvik 
Finnische Küste: Die Schären sind im Norden mit 
40-85 cm, im mittleren und südlichen Teil mit 35-60 
cm dickem Festeis bedeckt. Anschließend kommt im 
Norden zusammenhängendes, stark aufgepresstes 
30-60 cm dickes Eis vor. Außerhalb Norströms- 
grund, Malören und Oulu 1 befinden sich breite 
Rinnen. Im mittleren und S-lichen Teil liegt sehr 
dichtes, üÜübereinandergeschobenes und aufge- 
presstes 20-50 cm dickes Treibeis. - Schwedische 
Küste: In den Schären 30-80 cm dickes Festeis. Auf 
See liegt sehr dichtes 30-70 cm dickes Eis, in dem 
gröbere Schollen, Presseisrücken und viele Risse 
vorkommen. Eine schmale Rinne erstreckt sich von 
\ygrän bis Norströmsgrund. Eine andere Rinne, die 
stellenweise von groben Schollen blockiert sein 
kann, verläuft von Farstugrunden bis Malören. 
Voraussichtliche Eisentwicklung 
Ein schwaches Tief zieht heute über die südliche 
Bottensee ostwärts, danach kommt der nördliche 
Istseeraum wieder unter Hochdruckeinfluss. Am 
Wochenende wird das Eis in der Bottensee 
südwärts treiben und gegen die Luvküsten pressen, 
am Montag ist im Bottnischen Meerbusen mit einer 
16rdlichen Eisdrift zu rechnen. Trotz kühler Nächte 
wird das Eis im Finnischen und Rigaischen 
Meerbusen sowie an den Bottenseeküsten und im 
3ereich von Norra Kvarken durch den deutlichen 
Temperaturanstieg während des Tages weiter 
abnehmen.

Finnish Coast: In the northern Bay of Bothnia 
:here is 40-85 cm, in the central and southern part

out there is consolidated, heavily ridged 30-60 cm 
‘hick ice in the north. Wide leads are present off 
Norströmsgrund, off Malören and off Oulu 1. In the 
zentral and southern part there is very close, rafted 
and ridged 20-50 cm thick ice. - Swedish Coast: 
n the archipelagos there is 30-80 cm thick fast ice. 
At sea mostly very close 30-70 cm thick ice with 
heavy floes, ridges and numerous cracks occurs. A 
narrow lead stretches from MNygrän to 
Norströmsgrund. Another lead runs from 
Farstugrunden to Malören; the lead can be blocked 
by heavy floes. in places. 
Expected Ice Development 
Today, a weak depression area is moving over the 
southern Sea of Bothnia eastwards. Thereafter, the 
weather in the northern region of the Baltic Sea will 
be influenced by a high pressure again. During the 
week-end the ice in the Sea of Bothnia will drift 
southwards, and it will be under pressure against 
'he windward coasts. On Monday, northerly ice drift 
is expected in the Gulf of Bothnia. Despite cool 
nights, the temperature increase during daytime 
will result in further ice retreat in the Gulfs of 
Finland and Riga as well as at the coasts of the 
Sea of Bothnia and in the region of Norra Kvarken.
