Norra Kvarken 
Auf See meist sehr dichtes und übereinander- 
geschobenes 15-40 cm dickes Eis. 
Finnische Küste: Von Vaasa bis Norra Gloppsten 
30-55 cm dickes Festeis. Außerhalb davon liegt im 
Süden sehr dichtes 10-30cm dickes Eis. - 
Schwedische Küste: W-lich von Holmöarna 30-60 
cm dickes Festeis. Bei Nordvalen liegt sehr dichtes 
20-40 cm dickes Eis mit einigen Presseisrücken, 
aber auch mit kleineren Rissen und Rinnen. 
Bottenvik 
Finnische Küste: Die Schären sind mit 35-65 cm 
dickem Festeis bedeckt. Außerhalb des Festeises 
liegt im Norden bis zu der Linie Raahe — Nygrän zu- 
sammenhängendes, stark aufgepresstes 30-50 cm 
dickes Eis. Sonst kommt sehr dichtes, übereinander- 
geschobenes und teilweise aufgepresstes 20-40 cm 
dickes Eis vor. - Schwedische Küste: In den N- 
lichen inneren Schären 40-70 cm dickes Festeis. Auf 
See liegt zusammenhängendes oder ebenes 20-50 
cm dickes Eis, in dem N-lich der Breite 64° 40'N 
schwierige Presseisrücken vorkommen. Von 
Malören bis Holmöarna erstreckt sich entlang der 
Küste eine 1-5 sm breite mit dünnem ebenen Eis 
oder Neueis bedeckte Rinne.

Bay of Bothnia 
Finnish Coast: The archipelagos are covered with 
35-65 cm thick fast ice. Off the fast ice there is 
consolidated, heavily ridged 30-50 cm thick ice 
1orth of the line Raahe — Nygrän. Else, very close, 
rafted and partly ridged 20-40 cm thick ice occurs. - 
Swedish Coast: In the northern inner archipelagos 
'here is 40-70 cm thick fast ice. At sea there is 
consolidated or level 20-50 cm thick ice. In the 
region north of the latitude 65° 40’N heavy ridges 
occur. A 1-5 nm wide lead, covered by thin level ice 
or new ice, runs from Malören to Holmöarna along 
the coast. 
Voraussichtliche Eisentwicklung 
Der N-liche Ostseeraum gelangt in den nächsten 
zwei Tagen von E her unter Hochdruckeinfluss. Bis 
zum Wochenende wird das Eis im Bottnischen 
Meerbusen bei strengem bis sehr strengem Frost 
weiter zunehmen. Im Finnischen Meerbusen wird 
das Eis auf See N-wärts treiben, die Rinne an der N- 
Küste wird sich teilweise schließen. Die Witterung im 
S-lichen Ostseeraum wird durch Tiefdrucktätigkeit 
über Britischen Inseln bestimmt. Bei ansteigenden 
Lufttemperaturen und zeitweiligem Regen ist in den 
nächsten drei Tagen mit beginnendem Eisrückgang 
zu rechnen. An der Nordseeküste wird das Eis 
deutlich abnehmen. 
Expected Ice Development 
The northern region of the Baltic Sea will come 
under influence of high pressure from the east 
during the next two days. At strong to very strong 
‘rost ice will further increase in the Gulf of Bothnia 
until the week-end. In the Gulf of Finland, the ice at 
sea will drift northwards, the lead along the 
northern coast will partly close. The weather in the 
southern region of the Baltic Sea will be set by low 
pressure area over the British Isles. At increasing 
air temperatures and temporary rain, ice retreat will 
start during the next three days. At the North Sea 
coast rapid ice decrease is expected.
