After dissection, the organ sub-samples (mostly fish livers) were wrapped in pre 
cleaned aluminium foil and deep-frozen at -35 °C in the ship’s freezing rooms. Insulated 
containers equipped with cooling elements were used to transport the samples from the 
ship to the Institute’s laboratory, and later to distribute them to the the analysing 
laboratories.
