Finnischer Meerbusen 
Estnische Küste: An den Küsten der Kunda Bucht 
tritt dunkler Nilas auf und im Küstenbereich der 
Muuga Bucht kommt Neueis vor. Finnische Küste: 
In den östlichen Schären dünnes Eis. Saimaasee: 
ım N-Teil tritt 15-20 cm dickes Eis, im S-Teil und im 
Kanal dünnes Eis auf. Russische Küste: In den 
Häfen von St. Petersburg liegt 10-15 cm dickes 
kompaktes Eis. Weiter westwärts bis zur Länge der 
Insel Kotlin tritt im Fahrwasser sehr dichtes 10-20 cm 
dickes, teilweise übereinandergeschobenes und 
hügelig aufgepresstes Eis auf. Weiter bis zur 
Westspitze von Kotlin kompaktes, 5-10 cm dickes 
Eis. Von dort bis zur Eisgrenze, die entlang der Linie 
Bol'Soja Izhora - Kap Stirsudden — Insel Bol'Soj 
Berozovyj] verläuft, tritt dunkler Nilas auf. - Im 
Berkezund kompaktes 5-10 cm dickes Eis, in der 
Einfahrt dunkler Nilas. - In der Vyborgbucht liegt 10- 
15 cm dickes Festeis, in der Einfahrt dunkler Nilas. - 
In der Luga Bucht kommt entlang der Küste dunkler 
Nilas vor. 
Bottensee 
Finnische Küste: In den inneren Schären kommt 
dünnes Eis vor. Schwedische Küste: In den 
geschützten Buchten tritt dünnes ebenes Eis auf. 
Der nördliche Ängermanälv ist mit 10-20 cm dickem 
Festeis bedeckt. 
Norra Kvarken 
Finnische Küste: Zwischen Vaasa und Ensten tritt 
dünnes ebenes Eis auf. Schwedische Küste: In der 
Einfahrt nach Umeä und in geschützten Buchten 
kommt dünnes Eis vor. 
Bottenvik 
Finnische Küste: In den nördlichen inneren Schären 
10-30 cm dickes Festeis. Außerhalb davon liegt von 
Kemi bis Kemi 1 teilweise aufgepresstes 10-30 cm 
dickes Eis. Zwischen Oulu und Kattilankalla etwa 10- 
30 cm dickes Festeis. Anschließend tritt bis zur Eis- 
grenze, die entlang der Linie Repskär — Kemi 1 -— 
Merikallat -— Raahe-Leuchtturm — Rahja verläuft, 
lockeres bis dichtes Eis auf. In den südlichen 
Schären liegt dünnes Eis, außerhalb davon kommt 
stellenweise sehr lockeres dünnes Eis vor. 
Schwedische Küste: In den nördlichen inneren 
Schären Festeis, 10-30 cm dick. Außerhalb davon 
liegt bis zu den äußeren Inseln zuerst 5-15cm dickes 
zusammenhängendes Eis wobei Bereiche mit 
kompakten Eisbreiklümpchen oder Schneeschlamm 
auftreten. Weiter außerhalb dichtes Treibeis. 
Voraussichtliche Eisentwicklung 
In der Bottenvik kommt es auf See übers 
Wochenende zu leichten Frost mit Wind aus 
überwiegend nördlichen Richtungen. Das Eis wird 
daher etwas von der Küste, bzw. Festeisgrenze, 
weggetrieben und lockert sich etwas auf. Die Neueis- 
bildung ist nur gering. Im übrigen Ostseeraum 
oleiben die Temperaturen im allgemeinen über 0°C 
und es bildet sich kein neues Eis, im südlichen 
Freitag, den 11.01.2008 
Gulf of Finland 
Estonian Coast: At the coasts of the Bays of Kunda 
there is dark nilas, and in the coastal zone of the Bay 
of Muuga there is new ice. Finnish Coast: In the 
eastern archipelagos there is thin ice. Lake Saimaa: 
In the northern part 15-20 cm thick ice, in the 
southern part and in the Canal thin ice occurs. 
Russian Coast: In the harbours of St. Petersburg 
there is 10-15 cm thick compact ice. Farther out on 
the fairway there is partly hummocked and rafted, 
very close 10-20 cm thick ice up to the longitude of 
sland Kotlin. Then up to the western point of Kotlin 
compact 5-10 cm thick ice. Farther out there is dark 
nilas, the ice edge runs along the line Bol'Soja Izhora 
Cape Stirsudden — island Bol'Soj Ber'ozovyj. - In 
3erkezund there is compact ice, 5-10 cm thick, in the 
entrance dark nilas. - The Vyborg Bay is covered by 
10-15 cm thick fast ice, in the entrance there is dark 
ıillas. - In the Luga Bay there is dark nilas along the 
o0oast. 
Sea of Bothnia 
Finnish Coast: In the inner archipelago there is 
thin ice. Swedish Coast: In sheltered bays there is 
thin level ice. The northern Ängermanälv is covered 
with 10-20 cm thick fast ice. 
Norra Kvarken 
Finnish Coast: From Vaasa to Ensten there is thin 
evel ice. Swedish Coast: In the entrance to Umeä 
and in sheltered bays there is thin ice. 
Bay of Bothnia 
Finnish Coast: In the northern inner archipelago 
10-30 cm thick fast ice. Off the fast ice edge from 
Xemi to Kemi 1 there is partly ridged 10-30cm thick 
ce. Between Oulu and Kattilankalla there is 10-30 
cm thick fast ice. Farther out up to the ice edge 
along line Repskär — Kemi 1 — Merikallat — Raahe 
ighthouse — Rahja there is very open to close ice. 
In the southern archipelago there is thin ice, farther 
out thin very open drift ice occurs in places. 
Swedish Coast: In the northern inner archipelago 
fast ice, 10-30 cm thick. Farther off up to the outer 
‚slands there is first 5-15 cm thick consolidated 
compact ice with areas of compact shuga or slash. 
Further out close drift ice 
Expected Ice Development 
In the Bay of Bothnia there will be light frost at sea 
over the weekend and the wind will blow mostly 
from northerly directions. The ice will slightly be 
pushed away from the coast, respective from the 
fast ice border and so will open up a little bit. The 
formation of new ice will be only weak. In the other 
regions of the Baltic temperatures in general will 
stay above zero So no new ice will be formed. The
