The Saimaa Canal will be closed for traffic on Sunday, the 18” January. 
Icebreaker: Due to the easy ice conditions, OTSO is in berth in Oulu. Harbour tugs give assistance as 
/equired. KUMMELI| and METEOR assist on the northern Lake Saimaa. 
Russia 
icebreaker: Low-powered vessels to St. Petersburg can be assisted at need by port icebreakers KAPITAN 
ZARUBIN and SEMYAN DEZNEY in the ports Vyborg and Vysotsk by icebreaker KAPITAN IZMAILOV. 
Sweden 
Vessels not suitable for winter navigation, river vessels and tugs with barge can not expect governmental 
cebreaker assistance. 
All ships entering harbours in the Gulf of Bothnia shall, when passing Svenska Björn (N 59° 33’ E 20° 01’) 
contact the VTS Gävle on VHF channel 84
