Das Eis auf See in der ABottenvik treibt 
südwestwärts. 
Overview 
The ice at sea in the Bay of Bothnia is drifting 
southwestwards. 
Bottenvik 
Finnische Küste: In den nördlichen Schären liegt 
40-70 cm dickes morsches Eis. Nördlich, östlich und 
südlich von Hailuoto treiben einzelne Eisschollen, 
sonst kommt bis etwa zur Linie Farstugrunden — 
Nahkiainen sehr dichtes bis dichtes aufgepresstes 
20-50 cm dickes Eis vor. Südlich davon tritt offenes 
Wasser auf. - Schwedische Küste: In den Schären 
1ördlich von Lulei kommt morsches Eis vor. Im 
Nordosten liegt sehr dichtes bis dichtes 15-50 cm 
dickes Eis mit dickeren Schollen und alten 
Presseisrücken dazwischen. Außerhalb davon 
kommt sehr lockeres Treibeis oder offenes Wasser 
vor, aber nördlich und südlich Farstugrunden sowie 
10rdwestlich von Malören treiben Bereiche mit 
dichtem Eis und grobe Eisschollen. Vorsichtiges 
Navigieren nördlich der Breite 65°N ist erforderli ch. 
Bay of Bothnia 
Finnish Coast: In the northern archipelagos there 
is 40-70 cm thick rotten ice. North, east and south 
rom Hailuoto single ice floes are drifting, else very 
lose to close ridged 20-50 cm thick ice occurs up 
ro about the line Farstugrunden — Nahkiainen. 
Farther south there is open water. - Swedish 
Coast: In the archipelagos north of Luleä there is 
rotten ice. In the northeastern part there is very 
slose and close 15-50 cm thick ice with thicker 
loes and old ridges in between. Farther off very 
open drift ice or open water occurs, but north and 
south of Farstugrunden as well as northwest of 
Malören areas with close ice and heavy ice floes 
are drifting. Navigation should be carefully north of 
the latitude 65°N. 
Voraussichtliche Eisentwicklung 
im nördlichen Ostseeraum wird bis über das 
Wochenende hinaus eine Hochdrucklage 
vorherrschen. Das Eis auf See in der Bottenvik wird 
sich durch zeitweise auffrischende Winde aus 
16ördlichen Richtungen südwärts auflockern und 
dabei weiter abnehmen. Durch den deutlichen 
Temperaturanstieg und längere Sonneneinstrahlung 
während des Tages wird das Eis zunehmend 
norsch, in den Schären wird es bis Montag auf die 
unbedeutenden Reste abschmelzen. 
Expected Ice Development 
In the northern region of the Baltic Sea a high 
pressure situation will dominate past week-end. 
The ice at sea in the Bay of Bothnia will loose 
southwards due to partly freshening winds from 
northerly directions and will further decrease 
'hereby. Due to significant rise of air temperatures 
and longer sunshine in the day time the ice is 
becoming increasingly rotten, in the archipelagos it 
will almost melt except for minor residues by 
Mondayv.
