Mittlere und Nördliche Ostsee 
Schwedische Küste: - Mälarsee: Zwischen 
Köping und Kvicksund liegt 5-20 cm dickes 
Festeis. Weiter Östlich bis nach Selaön und in 
geschützten Buchten liegt dünnes ebenes Eis 
oder Neueis. Lettische Küste: Im Hafen von 
Ventspils dichtes, keine 5cm dickes Treibeis. Das 
Fahrwasser ist eisfrei. 
Rigaischer Meerbusen 
Estnische Küste: In der Parnu Bucht liegt 5-10 
cm dickes Festeis. Im Moonsund liegt in der 
Küstenzone kompaktes Neueis und weiter außer- 
halb Streifen von lockerem und sehr lockerem 
\leueis. Vor der Südküste von Saaremaa kommt 
Pfannkucheneis und Trümmereis vor. - Lettische 
Küste: Im Hafen Riga kommt sehr lockeres 
Neueis sowie Eishaut vor. Weiter im Fahrwasser 
Richtung Irbenstraße sehr lockeres Neueis. 
Finnischer Meerbusen 
Estnische Küste: Entlang der Küste kommt 
örtlich Neueis vor, in der Narva Bucht örtlich Neu- 
ajs und entlang der Küste der Kunda Bucht 
Pfannkucheneis. - Finnische Küste: In den 
‚nneren Schären liegt dünnes Eis und außerhalb 
davon Neueis, sowie Neueisbildung. Saimaasee: 
Der zentrale Bereich ist stellenweise offen, 
ansonsten 5-20 cm dickes Eis, auch im Saimaa 
Kanal. - Russische Küste: In den Häfen von St. 
Petersburg kommt zusammengeschobenes 10- 
20cm dickes Eis vor. Weiter westwärts bis zu 
Kotlin tritt im Fahrwasser 10-20 cm dickes Fest- 
eis, dann bis zur Länge vom Kap Ustinskij 5-10 
cm dickes Eis auf. Noch weiter westwärts tritt bis 
zur Länge vom Kap Dubovskij dunkles Nilas und 
Neueis auf. - Die innere Vyborgbucht ist mit 12-22 
cm dickem Festeis bedeckt, weiter außerhalb 
kommt im Fahrwasser 10-20cm dickes Eis und 
Neueis vor. In der Luga Bucht kommt an der 
Küste dunkles Nilas vor. 
Bottensee 
Finnische Küste: In den inneren Schären 
dünnes Eis, außerhalb davon Neueis und Neueis- 
bildung. - Schwedische Küste: In den inneren 
Buchten und kleineren Häfen nördlich von 
Zudiskvall kommt 5-15cm dickes ebenes Eis vor. 
Entlang der Küste südwärts bis Gävle tritt dünnes 
sbenes Eis oder Neueis auf. Der nördliche 
Ängermanälv ist mit 15-830 cm dickem Festeis 
bedeckt, im südlichen Teil treibt dichtes, 5-10cm 
dickes Eis. 
Norra Kvarken 
Finnische Küste: In den Schären von Vaasa 
liegt dünnes ebenes Eis, außerhalb davon Neueis 
und Neueisbildung. - Schwedische Küste: In 
Montag, den 05.01.2009

Central and Northern Baltic 
Swedish coast: - Lake Mälaren: In the western part 
between Köpimg and Kvicksund there is 5-20 cm 
thick fast ice. Farther eastward up to Selaön as well 
as in sheltered bays there is thin level ice or new ice. 
Latvian Coast: In the port of Ventspils there is close 
ice, less then 5cm thick. The fairway is ice free. 
Gulf of Riga 
Estonian Coast: In Parnu Bay there is 5-10 cm thick 
fast ice. In Moonsund compact new ice in the coastal 
zone and further out stripes of open and very open 
new ice. Along the south coast of Saaremaa there is 
brash ice and pancake ice. - Latvian Coast: In the 
oort of Riga there is very open new ice and ice rind. 
Farther off on the fairway to Irben Strait there is very 
open new ice. 
Gulf of Finland 
Estonian Coast: Along the coast, new ice occurs in 
olaces. The is new ice present in the Bay of Narva 
and there is pancake ice near the coast in the Kunda 
Bay. - Finnish Coast: There is thin ice in the inner 
archipelago and new ice as well as new ice formation 
rarther out. Lake Saimaa: The central part of Lakre 
Saimaa is partly open, elsewhere and in the Saimaa 
Canal there is 5-20 cm thick ice. - Russian Coast: In 
the harbours of St. Petersburg there is compact 10- 
20cm thick ice. Farther westwards on the fairway up to 
island Kotlin there is 10-20 cm thick fast ice, then to the 
longitude of Cape Ustinskij there is 5-10cm thick ice. 
Still farther out till the longitude of cape Dubovskij there 
is dark Nilas and new ice. - The inner Vyborg Bay is 
covered with 12-22 cm thick fast ice, farther out on the 
fairway there is 10-20cm thick ice and new ice. In Luga 
Bay there is dark Nilas along the coast. 
Sea of Bothnia 
Finnish Coast: Thin ice in the inner archipelago and 
new ice as well as new ice formation farther out.- 
Swedish Coast: In the inner bays and small harbours 
:here is 5-15cm thick level ice north of Hudiskvall. 
Southwards along the coast to Gävle there is thin 
level ice or new ice. The northern Ängermanälv is 
zovered with 15-30 cm thick fast ice, in the southern 
close. 5-10cm thick drift ice.

thin level ice, farther out there is new ice and new ice
