Mittlere und Nördliche Ostsee 
Litauische Küste: Das Kurische Haff ist mit 15-26 
cm dickem Festeis, das im Nordteil teilweise auf- 
gebrochen ist, bedeckt. - Russische Küste: In der 
Zufahrt nach Kaliningrad liegt 15-30 cm dickes 
Festeis, außerhalb davon etwas Treibeis. - 
Schwedische Küste: In geschützten Buchten und 
Schären kommt dünnes ebenes Eis oder Neueis 
vor. Mälarsee: Mit 15-30 cm dickem Festeis oder 
ebenem Eis bedeckt. 
Rigaischer Meerbusen 
Im Norden treibt lockeres bis dichtes 5-15 cm dickes 
Eis, außerhalb der Westküste und in der Irbenstraße 
kommt lockeres 5-10 cm dickes Eis vor. 
Estnische Küste: In der Pärnu Bucht liegt 30-40 cm 
dickes Festeis. Außerhalb davon kommt bis zur 
3reite der Insel Kihnu dichtes 10-20 cm dickes Eis, 
weiter südlich überwiegend offenes Wasser vor. Im 
Moonsund liegt in der Küstenzone 15-30 cm dickes, 
teilweise aufgebrochenes Festeis, außerhalb davon 
dichtes bis sehr dichtes 10-20 cm dickes Eis. - 
Lettische Küste: Im Hafen Riga kommt offenes 
Wasser vor. Im Fahrwasser Mersrags — Irbenstraße 
—- Hafen Ventspils treibt lockeres 5-10 cm dickes Eis. 
In der Irbenstraße liegt örtlich zusammengeschobe- 
nes 5-10 cm dickes Treibeis. 
Finnischer Meerbusen 
Die aufgelockerte Eisgrenze verläuft auf der Linie 
Harmaja — 5 sm südlich von Kalbädagrund — Vaindlo 
- Ust-Narva. Etwa 7-15 sm breite Rinne erstreckt 
sich entlang der südlichen Küste westlich von Ust- 
Narva. 
Estnische Küste: In der Narvabucht treibt lockeres 
5-10 cm dickes Eis, in der Kunda Bucht kommt in 
Küstennähe dunkler Nilas vor. - Finnische Küste: 
In den westlichen Schären 5-25 cm dickes Festeis, 
außerhalb davon auf 2-5 sm sehr dichtes dünnes 
Eis. In den östlichen Schären liegt 15-25 cm dickes 
Festeis, außerhalb davon bis zur Linie Harmaja — 
Orrengrund — Haapasaari sehr dichtes, teilweise 
übereinandergeschobenes 10-25 cm dickes Eis, 
anschließend kommt bis zur Linie Harmaja — Vaindlo 
sehr dichtes 10-35 cm dickes Eis vor. - Russische 
Küste: In den Häfen von St. Petersburg dichtes bis 
sehr dichtes 20-30 cm dickes Eis. Weiter westwärts 
legt bis zur Länge von Kronstadt 30-45 cm dickes 
Festeis. Außerhalb davon kommt im Fahrwasser bis 
zur Länge von Seskar sehr dichtes, pressendes 20- 
35 cm dickes Eis, dann bis zur Länge des 
Leuchtturms Orrengrund sehr dichtes, leicht 
pressendes 10-25 cm dickes Eis vor. Anschließend 
tritt bis zur Eisgrenze lockeres 10-25 cm dickes Eis 
auf. - Die Vyborgbucht ist mit 30-45 cm dickem 
Festeis bedeckt. Außerhalb davon kommt bis Halli 
ıockeres 15-30 cm dickes Treibeis, dann sehr 
dichtes, leicht pressendes 15-30 cm dickes Eis vor. - 
ım Berkezund liegt 15-25 cm dickes Festeis, 
anschließend kommt sehr dichtes, leicht pressendes 
15-35 cm dickes Eis vor. - Die Lugabucht ist mit 10- 
Central and Northern Baltic 
Lithuanian Coast: The Courland Lagoon is 
zovered with 15-26 cm thick fast ice, which is partly 
broken in the northern part. - Russian Coast: In 
the entrance to Kaliningrad there is 15-30 cm thick 
fast ice, off the fast ice some drift ice is found. - 
Swedish coast: In sheltered bays and 
archipelagos there is thin level ice or new ice. Lake 
Mälaren: Covered by 15-30 cm thick fast ice or 
level ice. 
Gulf of Riga 
In the North open to close 5-15 cm thick ice is 
drifting, off the western coast and in the Irben Strait 
open 5-10 cm thick ice occurs. 
Estonian Coast: In the Pärnu Bay there is 30-40 
cm thick fast ice. Farther out up to the latitude of 
island Kihnu there is close 10-20 cm thick ice, 
southwards of it mostly open water. In the coastal 
zone of the Moonsund there is 15-30 cm thick, 
partly broken fast ice, farther off close and very 
close 10-20 cm thick ice. - Latvian Coast: In the 
port of Riga there is open water. On the fairway 
Mersrags - Irben Strait — port of Ventspils open 5- 
10 cm thick ice is drifting. In the Irben Strait 
compact 5-10 cm thick drift ice occurs in places. 
Gulf of Finland 
The diffuse ice edge runs along the line Harmaja — 
5 nm south of Kalbädagrund — Vaindlo — Ust- 
Narva. About 7-15 wide lead extends from Ust- 
Narva westwards along the southern coast. 
Estonian Coast: Open 5-10 cm thick ice is drifting 
in the Bay of Narva, in the Bay of Kunda there is 
dark nilas near the coast. - Finnish Coast: In the 
western archipelago there is 5-25 cm thick fast ice, 
‘arther off for 2-5 nm very close thin ice. In the 
sastern archipelago there is 15-25 cm thick fast 
ice. Farther off there is to the line Harmaja — 
Orrengrund — Haapasaari very close, partly rafted 
10-25 cm thick ice, then up to the line Harmaja — 
Vaindlo very close 10-35 cm thick ice.- Russian 
Coast: In the harbours of St. Petersburg there is 
slose to very close 20-30 cm thick ice. Farther 
westwards there is 30-45 cm thick fast ice up to the 
iongitude of Kronstadt. Farther out on the fairway 
ihere is very close, compressed 20-35 cm thick ice 
up to the longitude of the island Seskar, then very 
slose, slow compressed 10-25 cm thick ice up to 
the longitude of lighthouse Orrengrund. Farther off up 
'o the ice edge open 10-25 cm thick ice occurs. - The 
VYyborg Bay is covered with 30-45 cm thick fast ice. 
Farther off there is first up to the Halli open 15-30 
ihick drift ice, then very close, slow compressed 15- 
30 cm thick ice. - In the Berkezund there is 15-25 cm 
thick fast ice. Farther off there is very close, slow 
sompressed 15-35 cm thick ice. - The Luga Bay is 
zovered with 10-25 cm thick fast ice. In the Corpora 
Bay there is 10-25 cm thick fast ice along the coast, 
farther out there is open drift ice.
