Übersicht 
Der Eisbildungsprozess im nördlichen Ostseeraum 
wurde durch Zustrom milderer Luft unterbrochen. 
Neueis kommt nur im östlichsten Teil des Finnischen 
Meerbusens und in den nördlichsten Schären der 
Bottenvik vor. 
Overview 
Ice formation in the northern region of the Baltic 
Sea was interrupted by the inflow of milder air. 
New ice occurs only in the easternmost part of the 
Gulf of Finland and in the northernmost archipelago 
of the Bay of Bothnia. 
Gulf of Finland 
Russian Coast: In the harbours of the St. Petersburg 
and farther westwards on the fairway to the eastern 
point of Kotlin there are dark nilas and shuga. - In the 
top of Vyborg Bay dark nilas occurs. 
Finnischer Meerbusen 
Russische Küste: In den Häfen von St. Petersburg 
und im Fahrwasser weiter westwärts bis zur 
Ostspitze von Kotlin kommen dunkler Nilas und 
Eisbreiklümpchen vor. - In der innersten Vyborgbucht 
tritt dunkler Nilas auf. 
Bottenvik 
In den nördlichsten Schären kommt örtlich Neueis 
vor. 
Bay of Bothnia 
In the northernmost archipelago there is new ice, in 
places. 
Voraussichtliche Eisentwicklung 
Im nördlichen Ostseeraum ist in den nächsten drei 
Tagen keine wesentliche Eiszunahme zu erwarten. 
Durch zeitweise auffrischende südliche Winde wird 
das dünne Eis im Ostteil des Finnischen Meerbusens 
an der Nordküste der Kronstadtbucht zusammenge- 
schoben. 
Zum Beginn der nächsten Woche wird auf der 
Rückseite eines über Skandinavien ostwärts 
ziehenden Tiefs von Norden her Kaltluft in den 
nördlichen Ostseeraum einströmen, so dass zur 
Wochenmitte zunächst an den Küsten der nördlichen 
Bottenvik, später auch des östlichen Finnischen 
Meerbusens wieder Eisbildung möglich ist. 
Expected Ice Development 
In the northern region of the Baltic Sea no essential 
‘ce increase is to be expected within the next three 
days. Due to partly freshening southerly winds thin 
‘ce In the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland will be 
compacted on the northern coast of the Kronstadt 
Bay. 
At the beginning of the next week, on the rear side 
of a low moving over Scandinavia eastwards cold 
air will flow from the north into the northern region 
of the Baltic Sea. By the mid of the week ice 
formation may start again first on the coasts in the 
northern part of the Bay of Bothnia, later on also in 
the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland.
