Schären sind mit 5-20 cm dickem morschen Eis 
Dedeckt, außerhalb davon kommt offenes Wasser 
vor. Schwedische Küste: In den nördlichen Schären 
25-60 cm dickes Festeis. Außerhalb davon treten 
westlich der Linie Kemi 1 — Bjuröklubb wechselweise 
kompaktes 20-40 cm dickes Eis, lockeres 10-20 cm 
dickes Eis und Bereiche mit offenem Wasser auf. 
Das Eis im Eisfeld zwischen Farstugrunden und 
Luleä ist stark aufgepresst. Die Skellefteä Bucht ist 
mit kompaktem 10-40 cm dicken Eis bedeckt, in dem 
schwere Pressungen vorkommen. Von Bjuröklubb 
südwärts bis Holmöarna erstreckt sich entlang der 
Küste ein schmaler Gürtel mit Trümmereis, sonst auf 
See tritt offenes Wasser auf. 
5-20 cm thick rotten ice, farther off open water 
occurs. Swedish Coast: The northern archipelago 
are covered with 25-60 cm thick fast ice. Farther off 
west of the line Kemi 1 — Bjuröklubb there are 
alternating compact 20-40 cm thick ice, open 10-20 
cm thick ice and areas with open water. In the area 
between Farstugrunden and Luleä there is heavy 
ridged ice. The Skelleftea Bight is covered by 
compact 10-40 cm thick ice, heavy pressure occurs 
’n the ice field. From Bjuröklubb southwards to 
Holmöarna there is a narrow belt with brash ice 
along the coast, else at sea there is open water. 
Voraussichtliche Eisentwicklung 
Das Eis im Finnischen Meerbusen wird im Verlauf 
dieser Woche bis auf morsche Reste in geschützten 
Buchten abschmelzen. In der Bottensee und in Norra 
Kvarken setzt sich der Eisrückgang fort. Die 
Eisverhältnisse in der Bottenvik werden sich in den 
nächsten zwei bis drei Tagen bei Lufttemperaturen 
um den Gefrierpunkt und mäßigen Winden aus 
nordöstlichen Richtungen nicht wesentlich 
verändern.

Expected Ice Development 
The ice in the Gulf of Finland will melt in the course 
of this week except rotten remnants in the sheltered 
bays. In the Sea of Bothnia and Norra Kvarken the 
ce retreat will continue. The ice conditions in the 
Bay of Bothnia will not change very much during 
the next two to three days due to the air 
jemperatures around freezing point and moderate 
winds from northeasterly directions.
