Übersicht 
Durch das kalte Wetter am Wochenende wurde die 
gesamte Bottenvik mit Eis bedeckt. Auch in der 
Norra Kvarken und entlang der Küste der nördlichen 
Bottensee hat das Eis zugenommen. Im Finnischen 
Meerbusen hat sich, trotz etwas Neueisbildung und 
Sstlicher Eisdrift, nicht viel geändert. 
Der Saimaa Kanal ist für die Schifffahrt geöffnet. 
Overview 
Due to the cold weather over Easter the whole Bay 
of Bothnia is now covered with ice. Also in Norra 
Kvarken and along the coast in the northern part of 
the Sea of Bothnia the ice cover has increased. In 
the Gulf of Finland the changes were only small, 
although some new ice was formed and there was 
a slight easterly ice drift. 
The Saimaa Canal is open for navigation. 
Gulf of Finland 
Finnish Coast: In the inner archipelagos there is thin 
ce, in places. On the Saimaa lake as well as in the 
Saimaa Canal there is 10-40 cm thick ice. Russian 
Coast: In the harbours of St. Petersburg there is very 
open ice in places, Farther out on the fairway up to 
the longitude of Kronstadt there is 15-25 cm thick, 
very close ice, which is party hummocked. Farther 
westwards there is dark nilas and new ice up to the 
"ongitude of the lighthouse Krasnaja Gorka. - In 
Berkezund there is compact 10-15 cm thick ice and in 
the entrance new ice. - The Vyborg Bay is covered by 
15-25 cm thick fast ice and compact 10-20 cm thick 
ice, in the entrance new ice. 
Finnischer Meerbusen 
Finnische Küste: In den inneren Schären kommt 
örtlich dünnes Eis vor. Auf dem Saimaa See sowie 
im Saimaa Kanal 10-40cm dickes Eis. Russische 
Küste: In den Häfen von St. Petersburg kommi 
stellenweise sehr lockeres Eis vor. Weiter westwärts 
bis zur Länge von Kronstadt tritt im Fahrwasser sehr 
dichtes, 15-25 cm dickes, teilweise hügelig aufge- 
presstes Eis auf. Anschließend kommt bis zur Länge 
des Leuchtturms Krasnaja Gorka dunkles Nilas und 
Neueis vor. - Im Berkezund liegt kompaktes 10-15 
om dickes Eis, in der Einfahrt Neueis. - In der 
Vyborgbucht liegt 15-25 cm dickes Festeis und 
kompaktes 10-20 cm dickes Eis, in der Einfahrt 
Neueis. 
Schärenmeer 
Überwiegend offenes Wasser. 
Archipelago Sea 
Mostly open water 
Bottensee 
Finnische Küste: In den Schären liegt örtlich 
dünnes Eis oder Neueis. Nördlich von Pori liegt ab 
der Küste auf 1-15sm Breite Neueis. Schwedische 
Küste: Auf See kommt nördlich der Breite von 
Norrskär dünnes, teilweise übereinandergeschoben 
Sea of Bothnia 
Finnish Coast: In the archipelago there is thin ice 
and new ice in places. North of Pori, there is a 1- 
15nm wide area with new ice off the coast. 
Swedish Coast: At sea north of the latitude of 
Norrskär there is thin, partly rafted ice. The northern
