Norra Kvarken
Finnische Küste: Zwischen Vaasa und Nygrund
liegt 10-30 cm dickes Festeis. Schwedische Küste:
In der Einfahrt nach Holmsund kommt teilweise sehr
dichtes 5-15 cm dickes Eis vor.
Bottenvik
Die Eisgrenze des sehr dichten bis dichten Eises
verläuft von Bjuröklubb über 64°40'N 23°E nach
Kokkola. Finnische Küste: In den nördlichen
Schären 30-55 cm dickes Festeis, Außerhalb davon
erstreckt sich von Malören über Kemi 2 südwärts
eine etwa 15 sm breite, mit dünnem Eis bedeckte
Z3inne. Westlich der Rinne liegt sehr dichtes 20-45
sm dickes aufgepresstes Eis und 10-20 cm dickes
übereinandergeschobenes Eis. In den südlichen
Schären liegt 10-20 cm dickes Festeis,
Schwedische Küste: In den nördlichen Schären 25-60
 cm dickes Festeis. Außerhalb davon liegt im
Nordwesten ein 20-30 sm breites Gebiet aus sehr
dichtem 15-40 cm dicken Treibeis mit zusammengeirorenen
 groben Schollen dazwischen. Östlich davon
kommen viele Gebiete mit 15-40cm dickem,
ebenem, teilweise übereinandergeschobenem, Eis
vor. Zwischen diesen Gebieten liegen viele mil
Neueis bedeckte Rinnen. Noch weiter östlich liegt
dann sehr dichtes 20-30 cm dickes Eis. Ganz im
Norden hat sich entlang der Festeisgrenze ein , mit
Neueis bedeckte, Rinne gebildet. Im Süden tritt
zwischen Bjuröklubb und Holmöarna entlang der
Küste kompaktes 5-15 cm dickes Eis auf.
Voraussichtliche Eisentwicklung
Ein Tief zieht von Nordwesten kommend in die
südliche Ostsee und zieht dann über Ostern weiter
nach Nordosten. Dies führt zu Winden aus
nördlichen und nordöstlichen Richtungen, die bis
weit in den Süden kalte Luft heranführen. In der
Bottenvik driftet das Eis weiterhin nach Süden und
es bildet sich Neueis. In Norra Kvarken wird sich
auch auf See Neueis bilden, in der Bottensee kann
es in in Küstennähe zu Neueisbildung kommen. Zu
Ostern könnte die Bottenvik vollständig mit Eis
bedeckt sein. Im Finnischen Meerbusen steigen zum
Sonntag, wenn das Zentrum des Tiefs dor
vorbeizieht, die Temperaturen wieder an. Bis dahin
kann sich in geringem Maße auch Neueis bilden.
Die, über die Ostertage insgesamt nur schwachen
Winde, drehen dann über Süd auf West, über die
gesamten Ostertage gesehen wird die Eisdrift aber
gering sein und sich die Eisverhältnisse nicht in
großem Umfang verändern.

Norra Kvarken
Finnish Coast: Between Vaasa to Nygrund there is
10-30 cm thick fast ice. Swedish Coast: In the
entrance to Holmsund there is partly very close 5-15
 cm thick ice.
Bay of Bothnia
The ice edge of very close to close ice runs along
the line Bjuröklubb — point 64°40'N 23°E — Kokkola.
Finnish Coast: In the northern archipelago 30-55
cm thick fast ice. Farther off from Malören over
Xemi 2 and farther southwards there is an about 15
ım wide lead, covered by thin ice. West of the lead
there is very close, 20-45 cm thick ridged ice and
10-20 cm thick, rafted ice. In the southern
archipelago there is 10-20 cm thick fast ice.
Swedish Coast: In the northern archipelago fast
ice, 25-60 cm thick. Farther off in the northwestern
part there is a 20-30 nm wide area of very close 15-40
 cm thick drift ice with consolidated heavy floes in
between. Farther eastwards there are numerous
areas of 15-40cm thick level ice, which is partly
rafted. Between these areas there are many leads,
zovered with new ice. Still further east there is very
close 20-30 cm thick ice. All the way in the north a
ead, now covered by new ice, has formed along
the fast ice border. In the southern part, between
Bjuröklubb and Holmöarna there is compact 5-15
cm thick ice along the coast.

Expected Ice Development
A low will enter the southern Baltic coming from the
Northwest. The low then will move towards the
Northeast, reaching the eastern part of the Gulf of
-inland on Sunday. The winds will blow
predominantly out of northerly and north-easterly
directions, bringing cold air all the way also into the
southern part of the Baltic. In the Bay of Bothnia the
‘ce will continue to drift southwards and continuos
1ew ice formation will occur. New ice will also form
at sea in Norra Kvarken and in the Sea of Bothnia
1ew ice can from near the coast. On Sunday the
whole Bay of Bothnia could be covered by ice. In
the Gulf of Finland the colder temperatures will only
persist till Sunday, when the low moves over the
/egion and brings milder temperatures. Up till then
some new ice may form. The light winds will then
veer over south towards westerly directions, but the
overall ice drift will be small and no larger change is
anticipated over the whole Easter weekend
