Übersicht 
Im nördlichen Bottnischen Meerbusen liegt bis zu 
S0cm dickes Festeis und auf See bis zu 35cm dickes 
Eis, sowie einige dickere Schollen, bis zu etwa 
64°30'N. Dünnes Eis findet man auf See auch noch 
in Norra Kvarken, südlich davon aber nur noch in 
den Schären. Im Finnischen Meerbusen beschränkt 
sich das bis zu 35cm dicke Eis auf den östlichsten 
Teil. Südlich von 59°30' kommt kein Eis mehr vor. 
Obwohl in der Bottenvik und im östlichen Finnischen 
Meerbusen die Eisbildung auch in den nächsten 
Tagen noch anhält, wird die maximale Eisaus- 
dehnung in diesem Winter höchstwahrscheinlich 
nicht das bisherige Minimum von 52000km“ 
(1988/89) der seit 1720 vorliegenden Zeitreihe 
maximaler Ausdehnung erreichen. 
Overview 
In the northern part of the Bay of Bothnia the fast 
ce is up to 60cm thick and at sea there is up to 
35cm thick ice with some heavier floes north of 
about 64°30'N. Thin ice is also found at sea in 
Norra Kvarken, but further south only within the 
archipelagos. In the Gulf of Finland the ice, up to 
35cm thick, is confined to the easternmost part. No 
ce is found south of 59°30'N. Although ice 
formation in the northern Gulf of Bothnia and in the 
eastern part of the Gulf of Finland will continue in 
the next two days, the total ice cover will most 
orobable not reach 52000 km“ (winter 1988/89), 
which was up till now the minimum in the time 
series of maximum ice extent starting in 1720. 
Rigaischer Meerbusen 
Estnische Küste: Pärnu Bucht ist eisfrei. 
Gulf of Riga 
Estonian Coast: Pärnu Bay is ice-free. 
Gulf of Finland 
Finnish Coast: In the inner archipelagos there is thin 
ce, in places. Russian Coast: In the harbours of St. 
Petersburg there is compact 10-15 cm thick ice. 
Farther out on the fairway up to the longitude of 
Kronstadt there is 15-30 cm thick very close, partly 
ı1ummocked ice. Farther westwards up to the 
ongitude of Cape Ustinskij there is compact 10-15 
cm thick ice, partly rafted. Farther off up to the ice 
edge running along about the line Bol'Soj Berozovyj 
— Cape Kolgompja very open ice and new ice 
occurs. - In Berkezund compact 10-15 cm thick ice, 
‚n the entrance new ice occurs. - The Vyborg Bay is 
covered by 20-35 cm thick fast ice and compact 10- 
20 cm thick ice, in the entrance new ice. - In the 
Finnischer Meerbusen 
Finnische Küste: In den inneren Schären kommt 
Särtlich dünnes Eis vor. Russische Küste: In den 
Häfen von St. Petersburg liegt kompaktes 10-15 cm 
dickes Eis. Weiter westwärts bis zur Länge von 
Kronstadt tritt im Fahrwasser sehr dichtes 15-30 cm 
dickes, teilweise hügelig aufgepresstes Eis auf. An- 
schließend kommt bis zur Länge von Kap Ustinskij 
kompaktes, teilweise übereinandergeschobenes, 10- 
15 cm dickes Eis vor. Weiter westwärts bis zur 
Eisgrenze, die etwa auf der Linie Bol'Soj Ber'ozovyj — 
Kap Kolgompja verläuft, tritt sehr lockeres Eis und 
Neueis auf. - Im Berkezund kompaktes 10-15 cm 
dickes Eis, in der Einfahrt Neueis. - In der Vyborg- 
bucht liegt 20-35 cm dickes Festeis und kompaktes 
Herstellung und Vertrieb
