davon treibt bis Vaasa-Leuchtturm lockeres Eis und 
Neueis. Schwedische Küste: Um Holmön liegt 
dünnes ebenes Eis, sonst kommt verbreitet Neueis 
und Eisbildung vor. 
Bottenvik 
Finnische Küste: In den nördlichen inneren Schären 
30-50 cm dickes Festeis. Außerhalb davon kommt 
Dis südwestlich von Kemi 1 Neueis vor, daran 
anschließend liegt bis zur Breite von Marjaniemi 10- 
30 cm dickes sehr dichtes Treibeis. Eine mit Neueis 
Dedeckte Rinne verläuft von westlich Oulu 1 und 
5stlich von Merikallat weiter nach Süden. Außerhalb 
3aahe liegt Neueis, stellenweise treiben auch große 
grobe Schollen. Die Eisgrenze verläuft etwa entlang 
der Linie Gäsören — Falkensgrund — westlich von 
Nahkiainen — Kokkola- Leuchtturm. In den südlichen 
Schären liegt dünnes Festeis, außerhalb davon treibt 
lockeres dünnes Eis und Neueis. Schwedische 
Küste: In den nördlichen Schären 25-60 cm dickes 
7esteis. Außerhalb davon zwischen Piteä und Luleä 
liegt ein schmaler Gürtel mit dichtem oder ebenem 5- 
15 dicken Eis und von nördlich Skellefteä bis 
Aödkallen ein 1-7 sm breiter Gürtel mit ebenem 3-7 
om dicken Eis. Auf See kommen nördlich von 6450' 
N und westlich von 23%80' E Bereiche mit sehr 
dichtem und ebenem 5-25 cm dicken Eis vor. 
Einzelne Schollen in diesem Eisfeld sind 40-50 cm 
dick. 
Voraussichtliche Eisentwicklung 
Die Eisbildung in der Bottenvik wird über das 
Wochenende hinaus andauern. Am Wochenende 
setzt hier eine westliche Eisdrift ein. Auch im 
östlichen Finnischen Meerbusen ist bei leichtem bis 
mäßigem Dauerfrost Neueisbildung zu erwarten.

Bay of Bothnia 
Finnish Coast: In the northern inner archipelago 
30-50 cm thick fast ice. Off the fast ice there is new 
ce to the southwest of Kemi 1. Farther out up to the 
:atitude of Marjaniemi there is 10-30 cm thick very 
close drift ice. A lead covered with new ice runs 
irom west of Oulu 1 and east of Merikallat 
southwards. Off Raahe there is new ice, but also 
1eavy large floes are drifting in places. The ice 
3dge runs along about the line Gäsören — 
Falkensgrund — west of Nahkiainen — Kokkola 
ighthouse. In the southern archipelago there is thin 
fast ice, farther off there is thin open ice and new 
ce. Swedish Coast: In the northern archipelago 
fast ice, 25-60 cm thick. Farther off between Piteä 
and Luleä there is a small belt with close and level 
5-15 cm thick ice. From north of Skellefteä up to 
Rödkallen there is a 1-7 nm wide belt with level 3-7 
thick ice. At sea north of 6450' N and west of 
23B80'E there are areas of very close and level 5-2 5 
cm thick ice. Single floes in this ice field are 40-50 
cm thick. 
Expected Ice Development 
Ice formation in the Bay of Bothnia will continue 
past the week-end. Towards Saturday the ice will 
Degin to drift westwards there. At light to moderate 
lrost, new ice formation is to be expected in the 
sastern part of the Gulf of Finland, too.
