Norra Kvarken 
Finnische Küste: Zwischen Vaasa und Nygrund 
liegt dünnes Festeis, außerhalb davon bis Gäsgrund 
sehr dichtes Eis. Schwedische Küste: Um Holmön 
liegt ebenes Eis. 
Bottenvik 
Finnische Küste: In den nördlichen inneren Schären 
30-50 cm dickes Festeis. Anschließend liegt bis zur 
Linie Malören — Merikallat 10-30 cm dickes sehr 
dichtes Treibeis. Außerhalb davon treibt lockeres 
dünnes Eis und Neueis. Außerhalb Raahe tritt bis 
Johan zusammenhängendes dünnes Eis auf, weiter 
seewärts bis Raahe-Leuchtturm kommt dünnes 
kompaktes Eis vor. Die Eisgrenze verläuft ungefähr 
auf der Linie Piteä — Merikallat — Raahe-Leuchtturm. 
'n den südlichen Schären liegt dünnes Festeis, 
außerhalb davon treiben Neueis und 
zisbreiklümpchen. Schwedische Küste: In den 
nördlichen Schären 25-60 cm dickes Festeis. 
Außerhalb davon kommt nördlich der Linie Piteä — 
Norströmsgrund — südlich von Malören lockeres oder 
dichtes 5-20 cm dickes Treibeis und stellenweise 
auch Neueis vor. 
Norra Kvarken 
Finnish Coast: From Vaasa to Nygrund there is 
thin fast ice. Farther out there is very close drift ice 
to Gäsgrund. Swedish Coast: Around Holmön 
ihere is level ice. 
Bay of Bothnia 
Finnish Coast: In the northern inner archipelago 
30-50 cm thick fast ice. Farther out up to the line 
Malören — Merikallat there is 10-30 cm thick very 
close drift ice. Farther off thin open ice and new ice 
is drifting. Off Raahe there is thin consolidated ice 
to Johan, farther seawards thin compact ice occurs 
to Raahe lighthouse. The ice edge runs along about 
the line Pitea — Merikallat — Raahe lighthouse. In 
the southern archipelago there is thin fast ice, 
farther off there is new ice and shuga. Swedish 
Coast: In the northern archipelago fast ice, 25-60 
cm thick. Farther off there is north of the line Piteä — 
Norströmsgrund — south of Malören open or close 
5-20 cm thick drift ice and some areas of new ice. 
Voraussichtliche Eisentwicklung 
Die Witterung im nördlichen Ostseeraum wird in 
dieser Woche durch Tiefdruckgebiete geprägt, die 
von West nach Ost über Skandinavien hinweg 
ziehen. In den nächsten fünf Tagen wird im Bereich 
des Bottnischen Meerbusens das Wetter mit 
schwachem bis mäßigem Frost und Winden aus 
Sstlichen Richtungen vorherrschen. In den offenen 
Gebieten und an den Küsten der Bottenvik ist 
Neueisbildung möglich. Das Eis außerhalb der 
innischen Bottenvikküste wird westwärts treiben und 
sich dabei etwas auflockern. 
Die Eisverhältnisse im Östlichen _Finnischen 
Meerbusen werden sich bei Lufttemperaturen um 
den Gefrierpunkt und Winden aus vorwiegend 
westlichen Richtungen nicht wesentlich verändern. 
Expected Ice Development 
During this week, the weather in the northern region 
of the Baltic Sea will be set by depression areas 
moving from the west over Scandinavia eastwards. 
‚Nithin the next five days the weather with week to 
moderate frost and winds from easterly directions 
will dominate in the region of the Gulf of Bothnia. In 
ihe open areas and off the coasts of the Bay of 
Bothnia new ice formation is possible. The ice off 
he Finnish coast in the Bay of Bothnia will drift 
westwards and will somewhat loosen thereby. 
The ice conditions in the Gulf of Finland will not 
z3hange very much due to the air temperatures 
around the freezing point and winds from mostly 
westerly directions.
