Finnischer Meerbusen 
Finnische Küste: In den östlichen Schären dünnes 
zis. Saimaasee: Im N-Teil tritt 15-20 cm dickes Eis, 
im S-Teil und im Kanal 10-15 cm dickes Eis auf. 
Russische Küste: In den Häfen von St. Petersburg 
liegt 10-15 cm dickes kompaktes Eis. Weiter 
nestwärts bis zur Länge der Insel Kotlin tritt im 
-ahrwasser sehr dichtes 10-20 cm dickes, teilweise 
übereinandergeschobenes und hügelig aufgepress- 
tes Eis auf. Weiter bis zur Länge vom Leuchtturm 
Tolbuchin kompaktes, 10-15 cm dickes Eis. - Im 
Berkezund kompaktes 5-10 cm dickes Eis. - In der 
Vyborgbucht liegt 10-15 cm dickes Festeis, die 
Einfahrt ist eisfrei. 
Gulf of Finland 
Finnish Coast: In the eastern archipelagos there is 
ıhin ice. Lake Saimaa: In the northern part 15-20 cm 
thick ice, in the southern part and in the Canal 10- 
15 cm thick ice occurs. Russian Coast: In the 
narbours of St. Petersburg there is 10-15 cm thick 
compact ice. Farther out on the fairway there is partly 
ummocked and rafted, very close 10-20 cm thick ice 
up to the longitude of island Kotlin. Then up to the 
'ongitude of the lighthouse Tolbuchin compact 10-15 
cm thick ice. - In Berkezund there is 5-10 cm thick 
zompact ice. - The Vyborg Bay is covered by 10-15 
zm thick fast ice, the entrance is ice free. 
Bottensee 
Finnische Küste: In den inneren Schären kommt 
dünnes Eis vor. Schwedische Küste: In geschütz- 
ten Buchten tritt dünnes Eis auf. Der nördliche 
Ängermanälv ist mit 10-20 cm dickem Festeis 
bedeckt. 
Norra Kvarken 
Finnische Küste: Zwischen Vaasa und Nagelbrick 
liegt dünnes Festeis. Schwedische Küste: In der 
Einfahrt zu Holmsund und in geschützten Buchten 
kommt dünnes Eis vor. 
Bottenvik 
Finnische Küste: In den nördlichen inneren Schären 
10-35 cm dickes Festeis. Außerhalb davon liegt 
zwischen Kemi und nordöstlich von Kemi-1 teilweise 
aufgepresstes 10-30 cm dickes sehr dichtes Eis. 
Zwischen Oulu und Kattilankalla liegt 10-30 cm 
dickes Festeis. Außerhalb davon treibt lockeres 
dünnes Eis bis zur Eisgrenze, die etwa auf der Linie 
nördlich Malören — Kemi-1 — Oulu-1 — Hailuoto ver- 
läuft. In den südlichen Schären liegt dünnes Eis, 
außerhalb davon kommt stellenweise sehr lockeres 
dünnes Eis vor. Schwedische Küste: In den nörd- 
lichen inneren Schären Festeis, 10-30 cm dick. 
Außerhalb davon liegt bis zu den äußeren Inseln 5- 
15 cm diekes kompaktes Eis. 
Sea of Bothnia 
Finnish Coast: In the inner archipelago there is 
thin ice. Swedish Coast: In sheltered bays there is 
thin ice. The northern Ängermanälv is covered with 
10-20 cm thick fast ice. 
Norra Kvarken 
Finnish Coast: From Vaasa to Nagelbrick there is 
thin fast ice. Swedish Coast: In the entrance to 
Holmsund and in sheltered bays there is thin ice. 
Bay of Bothnia 
Finnish Coast: In the northern inner archipelago 
10-35 cm thick fast ice. Off the fast ice edge 
between Kemi and north-east of Kemi-1 there is 
partly ridged, 10-30 cm thick very close ice. 
Between Oulu and Kattilankalla there is 10-30 cm 
lhick fast ice. Farther out open ice is drifting until 
the ice edge, which runs along a line: north of 
Malören — Kemi-1 — Oulu-1 — Hailuoto. In the 
southern archipelago there is thin ice, farther out 
thin very open drift ice occurs in places. Swedish 
Coast: In the northern inner archipelago fast ice, 
10-30 cm thick. Farther off up to the outer islands 
there is 5-15 cm thick compact ice. 
Voraussichtliche Eisentwicklung 
In der Nacht zum Samstag zieht ein Tiefdruckgebiet 
über Südschweden in den Ostseeraum und verlagert 
sich dann Richtung Nordosten. Dies bringt zuersi 
weiterhin milde Luft in den gesamten Ostseeraum, 
auf See werden die niedrigsten Temperaturen 
weiterhin um den Nullpunkt liegen. Eine Eiszunahme 
ist nicht zu erwarten. Am Freitag kommt der Wind 
weiterhin aus überwiegend südlichen Richtungen 
und das Eis wird weiterhin an den Nordküsten der 
Bottenvik und des östlichen Finnischen Meerbusens 
zusammengeschoben. Am Samstag kommt es dann 
zu einer Winddrehung, in der Bottenvik auf Ost, in 
den südlicheren Bereichen auf West. In der Bottenvik 
wird sich das Eis daher etwas auflockern und da die 
Temperaturen etwas fallen, kann es zu einer 
geringen Neueisbildung kommen. 
Expected Ice Development 
in the night to Saturday an atmospheric low will 
enter the Baltic area over the south of Sweden and 
then will go to the north-east. In the beginning this 
will continue to bring mild air into the whole Baltic 
region, the coldest temperatures at sea Will 
continue to be around zero. Therefore no ice 
formation is expected. During Friday the wind will 
continue to blow out of predominantly southern 
directions and the ice will further on be compacted 
at the northern coasts of the bay of Bothnia and of 
the Gulf of Finland. In the course of Saturday the 
wind will begin to veer, changing to easterly 
direction over the Bay of Bothnia and to more 
westerly directions in the regions further south. In 
the Bay of Bothnia the ice will loosen a bit and 
because temperatures will go down, slight new ice 
formation can oceur.
