Bottenvik und im östlichen Finnischen Meerbusen
wird das Eis anfangs durch südliche Winde an den
Nordküsten zusammengeschoben. Zum Samstag hin
wird in der nördlichen Bottenvik der Wind abflauen
und über Ost nach Nord drehen, dabei wird es kälter
und die Eisbildung verstärkt sich wieder. Im
südwestlichen Ostseeraum wird das Eis weiterhin
abnehmen.

the northern part of the Bay of Bothnia will
decrease in strength and veer towards the east and
then to north, which will lead to decreasing

Information of the Icebreaker Services
Estonia
Tugs and barges are not assisted to Pärnu.
Icebreaker: EVA-316 assists in the Pärnu Bay.
Finland
icebreaker: LETTO assists in the northern Lake Saimaa, KUMMELI in the southern Lake Saimaa and in
Saimaa canal. OTSO assists in the northern Bay of Bothnia.
Vessels bound for Finnish ports and requiring icebreaker assistance shall, well in advance of entering ice-
zovered waters, report to an icebreaker in accordance with instructions given in the daily ice report. In
addition, vessels bound for Gulf of Bothnia ports in which traffic restrictions apply shall, when passing
Svenska Björn, report their nationality, name, port of destination, ETA and speed to VTS Gävle on VHF
channel 84. This report can also be given directly by phone + 46 26 647 150 or + 46 26 647 151. If
‚equired, due to the ice conditions, the position for reporting can be transferred farther to the south.
Vessels in the Gulf of Finland of 300 GT or more are required to report to the GOFREP Traffic Centre.
A vessel stuck in ice must notify the icebreaker of its position without delay.
Russia
Icebreaker: KAPITAN ZARUBIN and SEMYON DEZNEV assist low-powered vessels to St. Petersburg,
KAPITAN IZMAILOV to Vyborg and Vysotsk.
Tow boat-barges are not assisted to St. Petersburg.

All ships entering harbours in the Gulf of Bothnia shall, when passing Svenska Björn (N 59383’ E2001’ )
contact the VTS Gävle on VHF ehannel 84
