The state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, by joining the Working Group for the Federal and 
State Government Measuring Programme for the Marine Environment of the North Sea and 
Baltic Sea (ARGE BLMP Nord- und Ostsee), undertook to monitor the marine environment 
within its area of responsibility (cf. attached Table). Part of this monitoring programme will 
also be integrated into the international monitoring activities of HELCOM (COMBINE) under 
the Convention on the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Baltic Sea. 
The participation of LAUN MV in GOOS comprises only programmes that are part of other 
national commitments (Federal and State Government Measuring Programme). 
Contribution by the Technische Universität Hamburg-Harburg (TUHH)

Technische Universität Hamburg-Harburg carries out theoretical and practical experimental 
studies on the control of underwater vehicles. It also investigates the flow properties of large 
ice masses. It remains to be seen to what extent this research will be used operationally within 
GOOS.
